Questo è un breve estratto del romanzo Il campione , di David Storey (Ed. 66thand2nd), a raw slice of England ever since the Second World War. Published in 1960 under the title This Sporting Life, tells the story of Arthur Machin, arrived at the rugby (league) almost by accident, a worker in a factory of his city, torn between relationship with a widow who had rented a room and the desire to live independently.
